3. Purpose
These terms of use govern access to and use of the Opale ID service (opale.id). By creating an account, you agree to these terms without reservation; we keep the version you accepted and its date.
4. Nature of the service
Opale ID is a digital identity service. It lets you create a single account, authenticate with services that accept it, and manage your connected services, consents, and data from one place. It does not itself provide the services it grants access to: each has its own terms.
5. Registration and account
Registration with Opale ID asks for a username, from which your Opale ID address (name@opale.id) is derived, a password and your date of birth. The user is responsible for the confidentiality of their credentials and all activity under their account. An optional recovery email address receives security alerts and lets you get back into the account. An account not used to sign in for 3 years is deleted, after a warning sent a month ahead to the recovery address.
6. Minimum age
You must be at least 13 to create a Opale ID account: your date of birth is asked at registration and, if it shows you are younger, registration is refused. An account whose date of birth, entered after registration, shows a younger age is signed out and reviewed by a person; if it still shows under 13 after 30 days, it is deleted. Connected services receive your age band, never your date of birth. A minor must have a parent's permission to use their account. Under 15, Opale ID offers none of the choices about personalised advertising, because the law asks you to be 15 to accept them on your own; they open by themselves on your 15th birthday.
7. Authentication and security
Opale ID offers two-step verification with an authenticator app (TOTP), passkeys and recovery codes. Users are encouraged to turn them on to strengthen account security. Active sessions can be viewed and revoked at any time.
8. Connected services
Opale ID allows connecting third-party services via OAuth. Users can view, manage, and disconnect their connected services from their dashboard; disconnecting a service also closes its open sessions and disconnects the assistants that reach it. Consents associated with each service are individually configurable and revocable at any time.
9. Use of the service
You agree to use the service in good faith and not to disrupt its operation. The following are prohibited: any attempt to access another user's account without authorization, injecting malicious code, using unauthorized bots, and any unlawful use. In the event of a serious breach, the account may be suspended or deleted without notice.
10. Personal data and GDPR
The processing of your data is described in our privacy policy. In accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you have the right to access, rectify, delete, and port your data, as well as the right to object and limit processing. You can exercise these rights directly from your dashboard (export, deletion) or by writing to privacy@opalecrest.com.
11. Cookies
Opale ID uses two strictly necessary cookies: a session cookie (oid_session) and a random browser identifier (oid_device) used for alerts about a sign-in from a new device. No analytics or advertising cookies are used.
12. Public profile
Users can choose to make certain information publicly visible via their Opale ID profile. This visibility is disabled by default. The choice of displayed information (connected services, personal links) is fully configurable and reversible at any time.
13. Liability
Mathieu Corne strives to ensure the availability and security of the service but cannot be held responsible for temporary interruptions, data loss beyond his control, or the use made by third-party services of data shared via OAuth.
14. Changes to terms
These terms may be modified at any time. Changes take effect 15 days after publication on the site, and your dashboard shows you each new version for you to accept; we keep the version you accepted and its date. By continuing to use the service after that period, you accept the modified terms.
15. Change of publisher
The service is currently published by Mathieu Corne, sole proprietor. Its operation may be transferred to any successor entity, in particular upon a change of legal form, without affecting your rights.
16. Applicable law
These terms are governed by French law. In the event of a dispute, you may bring proceedings before any territorially competent court, including that of your place of residence.
